Major Project Unit - Editor for Roadman

For the Final Major Project Unit, I have taken on the role of Editor for Andy and Tim's film 'Roadman'. I am very excited to take this role on for this film, after reading the script I could see how the film was going to look, feel and how it would be paced in each scene. Editing is something I'm keen on pursuing as a career, but I do not know much information about it such as theory, different techniques and styles of editing. My aim for this film and also for this unit, it to not only edit 'Roadman' correctly, but also to produce a book about editing and why I edited 'Roadman' in a specific way.

I am also taking on the role of Sound Design and Continuity Supervisor. Sound Design will tie in will with my editing role as it will help me with creating emotion for scenes. Extra sounds or emphasise on certain sounds can help and enhance the emotion that is being presented on screen. I will be researching more into sound design and foley sounds when I am nearer to the post production stage of 'Roadman'.

The role of continuity supervisor will allow me to actively participate on the shoots. This role will require me to keep an eye out for any changes in the setting or with what is being filmed in general. I will have to make sure all of what being filmed stays the same I.e. Items being in the same place, positioning of the actors, eyeline of the actors etc. If there are continuity errors with the final product, it will take the audience out of the film and will be a distraction. If there are any continuity errors visible in the final product, I will take that as me failing at this job role.

I am very excited to start working on this project and seeing how it turns out and how my ideas develop and affect the film. Also learning more in depth about editing is something that grabs my interest instantly, which makes me believe I will put my all and extra into this project.
