Fiction Adaption (Initial Idea 6)

Another thing I have learned after my tutorial is that I need to relate it to war somehow. The reason for this is to keep the integrity of the original poem in intact, I cannot make an adaption without at least referencing the original meaning of the poem. Sexual assault and war have some similarities, for example they are both very aggressive topics, they involve victims, they both have people doing ground upon acts. Another thing to note is that a lot of the time during war, even modern wars happening around the world, when a place was invaded the invaders sometimes raped the women they found. This is more a common theme for wars that have happened in the past, but it is still present today. Hypothetically I could include noises similar to noises familiar with the war, for example I can have the sound of footsteps be replaced by the sound of gunshots. But I will look into it further before making decisions after the next action I am taking which is looking into other war poems and their adaptions, as well as looking into films that are about serial killers or sexual assault and take notes on the mise-en-scene and colours which are used.

Fiction Adaption (Initial Idea 5)

Today I have had a tutorial with my unit leader to ask if there would be any problems with the adult mature themes that are within my film, mainly the filming of a rape scene. She has told me that there is no problem with including this into my film but she advised me to take certain actions and precautions.
Firstly I was advised to research sexual violence, i.e. look into charities that help those who have been sexually abused. The reason for this is to see what they believe a victim of sexual assault's mental state would be like, as well as seeing if my story line would offend people who have been a victim of sexual assault as it could possibly be perceived through my film that those who have been victims of sexual assault are mentally ill. I do not want to give out a negative impressions about victims so I will have to show her development to getting back to normal while commenting the murders i.e. physical appearance, confidence. The way I intend to do this is to show her go from being scared, weak and scruffy looking to becoming strong, confident and well presented. I will have to think about this a little more (likely after I look at sexual abuse help charities) to make sure that nothing within the film could come across to being offensive to anyone.
