Louise's Transcript

Louise's Interview Transcript Copy by Ansell93

This is the transcript I have used to edit Louise's interview at her house.

Commisions (Initial Idea Development) 16

I have today received conformation for us to use Moby's song 'Lie Down in Darkness'. This is a big boost for us as the use of this song will create a professional feel within our documentary, and also the fact that I feel that the song matches our documentary perfectly. Another decision that has been made is that we will not be using a time-lapse within our film. When looking into the idea I found it to be too difficult for us to do as we did not have the right equipment to do it properly. There is a way I found that we could do it by changing the frame rate and speed it up through editing, but on such short time left we have more important things to be focusing on. Personally I feel that it would have been a great thing to include within our documentary as it would be visually appealing and would have been a different from typical cutaway shots that people are used to seeing all the time.

Commisions (Filming 5)

Monday morning just gone, I had to help film an interview with Holly who was Louise's mentor through the YLF Mentoring Program. Originally Hannah and Sophie were going to film this interview while I did some editing, but Sophie messaged us early in the morning saying she could not make the interview so I had to go instead. The interview of Holly took place in the YLF Meeting room which is where we first met Steven to discuss our plans for the documentary.
Our interview went well in some parts but not well in others. Our main interview had two big problems. The first being a cable was hanging over the top right of the screen, which is the same problem we had when trying to record an actuality piece with Louise in the church. This mistake was completely unacceptable as we have made it once before we should have been extra careful in what we were doing. The second problem we had was the brightness, the sun outside kept appearing and disappearing behind some clouds during the interview, which affected the visual footage tremendously. Whilst filming I tried to combat this problem with twisting the exposure dial to balance out the brightness, which did not help much. We can overcome these problems through editing but matter of the fact is that we should have been much more professional with the filming of this.

Commisions (Filming 4)

On the bank holiday monday just gone, our group has filmed another interview with Louise. The purpose of this interview was to learn more about the church she went to and the importance of it to her life. After previously talking to her we learned about her connection to the church and how it helped her through the troubles she had. The church is also a big part of our story as it was through the church where she got introduced to the YLF charity.
I believe our filming went well as we got a well framed shot that I set up, as well as some good cut away shot also. Another good factor about our filming was that our sound came out well, which I thought would be a problem as at the time of filming it sounded very echoey when Louise spoke. But originally on the day of filming when I arrived at the church, Sophie and Hannah were at the church before me and did the interview. But when looking back at the original shot it was very poor and the sound levels were too high, so this is why I reframed the shot and adjusted the sound levels.
The only problem we had with the filming of this interview is when I filmed an actuality piece with Louise, I got her to explain what the church was like for her while walking around and filming her at the same time. The problem with this piece of footage was firstly that there was a piece of cable hanging over the right side of the lens. Even though the cable was slightly in shot and can be edited out, it has still affected the framing of the finished edited shot. Another problem with this is that the footage of what Louise was saying was irrelevant to the story we were trying to create. So with these two problems we have decided not to use this actuality piece in our finished documentary.
