Major Pre-Production: What I'm providing the Pre-Production Package with

For the Pre-Production Package, I am aiming to produce the following things:

  • Concept Art
  • Storyboard
  • Test on Location
  • Directors and Director of Photography Vision
  • List of Filming Equipment

I am in charge of these roles as they relate to the jobs I am in charge of in this film. The Directors and Director of Photography Vision sections relate to my roles as Director and Cinematographer, I need to show in the plan what I am going to be doing in these departments. The list of filming equipment is important to the plan and is also my responsibility as we need to show what equipment we will be using as well as why, Mark and I decided this to be something I work on as I would be more likely to know what we need and why due to my Directing and Cinematographer roles in the production. The test shoots are also important to include because it will help to show clearly what the look and style of the film will be in the finished product, and this will be one of my contributions due to my Directing and Cinematography roles again. Finally, the concept art and storyboard, due to my roles within the production we felt it was right for me to take the reigns and include this in the package, this will help show our plans for the finished product.
But there is a problem with this, as we will already have plans for locations and test shots done I am a bit sceptical with the purpose of the concept art. More work into this will be done to be 100% certain whether this will be included or not. We could get an artist to design our posters and title logo and this could fill up this section instead of our initial idea, but more research and planning will be needed before this decision can be made.

Major Pre Production Development: Made Changes based on Green Light Presentation Feedback

After our Green Light Production, Mark and I were happy with the response we got from everyone about our film. But, there were points that were made that we had to think about. One being about Abigail's age. Her character was originally meant to be a young child, but it was pointed out to us that it would be difficult to get a child to be in our film due to child labour laws. We'd need to have the parent, carer or a guardian of the child to be present at all times of filming and go through DBS checks as well as other legal requirements. This is a problem in our eyes because these precautions could affect our filming days in a negative way. Also getting a child to act could prove to be difficult due to them not understanding themes of the film.

So to combat this, Mark and I have taken on board the suggestion we make the character Abigail a bit older, roughly middle aged teenager (14-17 years old), but we would get an actor who was over 18 years old but looks younger to play the part. Doing this will make it easier for us to legally film the character in scenes, and also the actor will understand the themes in the film more, resulting possibly in a better performance for the actors.
