Fiction Adaption (Essay 1)

For my fiction adaption essay, I have chosen the third question which is

'Discuss the view that 'with a successful adaption, the original work is transformed into something new and different, although retaining many traces of what it was formerly with reference to at least one text adaption for broadcast on television'.

I have decided to chose this question because I feel that I can develop more of a stronger argument within this subject, especially with the adaption I am planning on basing my argument around, which is the television adaption of the 'Ice and Fire' books, 'Game of Thrones'. I have chosen this as the subject of my argument because I do watch the show and am a huge fan of it. This may be seen as an easy way out but it is not. The fact that I am familiar with the subject gives me an advantage knowledge wise, I have not read the books but I understand why there were changes between the text and visual versions of the story. Also, I can comment on how the story has been updated to modern viewing. Some of the visionary pictured within the books may be dated as the first book of the series was released in 1996, while the first television episode was aired in early 2011. I will post more after I start developing my ideas for the essay.
