'The Meeting' Ideas/Thoughts 6

   I have been looking at film trailers for examples to how I should set out my trailer and one aspect I've been looking at in general is the soundtrack choice. I've looked at what genre or style of music I should use. I have looked at how some trailers use sound such as the trailer for the upcoming Ben Stiller film 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' which had no dialogue in it up until the end. I looked into this idea but have decided it would not work with my trailer. This is because I don't think it will create the dramatic effect I am looking for. Never the less, this is still a powerful emotive device to use as it pulls you into the film with giving barely any information out about it.
   A lot of trailers follow a pattern of what they show in the trailer. The majority of films within its trailer sets the scene of which the majority of the film takes place in, identifies the protagonist and also identifies the problem. The trailer for the film 'Thor' shows all of these elements. It first identifies the protagonist, which is Thor, then it sets one of the main places where it is set by showing Asgard, it then identifies the problem which is Thor being cast out from his home, but not too much in detail so it doesn't give to much away. I am going to include this into my trailer as it is an effective way to grab the audiences attention and it shows the audience what the film is about in an appealing way, so it will make the film look good; if a film has a bad trailer people won't want to see the film. This trailer uses dramatic music which is appropriate for as it is a trailer for an action film. My film isn't of the action genre but thrillers do have some similarities with action with the emotions it creates for the audience, so I decided to look for a piece of music that has a dramatic effect on the audience to be the soundtrack for my trailer.

   I have decided to use a song called 'Pandemonium' by Arkasia. I chose this song as it has a build up of suspence in the song and the main part of the song has a lot of elements of drama and adreneline. It also has a vibe of mystery within the song which is a theme that is shown in the main part of the film. The bass in the song will also add to the dramatic feeling by the hard depth bass has as a sound. The bass is not too loud so I will have to edit it either in Final Cut Pro or Soundtrack Pro as it isn't as loud as I'd like it to be. I am going to use from 0.00 to 1.29 for the first minute and a half of my trailer, then I'm going to cut it to 2.57 as this part of the song has more in it than when you hear it previously just after the 1.29 mark.
