Fiction Adaption (Chosen Actors)

The actors I have chosen to be in my film are Elodie Foray as 'Girl/The Victim' and David Sandham as 'The Sexual Predator'. I have chosen these actors as they both showed that they were interested in the film and what I was doing, and also their performances in their auditions was what I was looking for. I need to do a bit more planning with my film before filming but hopefully with these actors I will be able to produce a good film adaption.

Fiction Adaption (Initial Idea 20 - music)

There is no music apart from the soundscape I am planning to create, but for the credits I am looking for a suitable song instead of silence. So for my credits I decided to look for an acapella song or an acapella rendition of a royalty free song. I feel that some songs that are sung in acapella can add  a sense of creepiness when accompanied with visuals. So I found a song that would be fitting for my film which is also royalty free. I found a song which is by Laura James, an artist praised by BBC Radio 1 and 2 for her vocals. This song has elements of innocence and eeriness, which is suitable for my film due to the adult themes within it. There is a link below where you can hear this song, as well a link which you can download the licensing agreement for this song.

'Bitterness' - Laura James

Fiction Adaption (Initial Idea 19)

Researching in to films that are similar to the subject my film is going to be based on, I looked at the 2005 film 'Hard Candy'. Hard candy is about a girl who meets up with a paedophile who she believes was responsible for her friends murder and rape. Researching into this film is loosely based on real events reported in Japan of young girls luring paedophiles to a location and robbing and attacking them. I took note of many elements of this film such as how it was shot and the colours used. The colours visually seem slightly watered down, which makes a typical colourful sunny day have an essence of eeriness about it. And the colours used in the main female characters clothing is similar to the story of little red riding hood, which is a theme pushed on the film poster as the female wears a red hoodie in the film when she meets up and goes to the paedophile's house.
I find using a visual reference to the childhood story of little red riding hood extremely effective as it related well to the story and adds to the creepy factor of the film by turning an innocent childhood story and making it into a dark adult themed tale. It is also effective as in the original tale the girl in little red riding hood is an innocent helpless little girl, while in this film it is the complete opposite as the girl is mature for her age and in control of what happens through out the film.
I have mainly focussed on the use of colours in the film which is an element I am aiming to put into my film in post editing. I have another film that I am going to look at for research and will post about it soon.
