Fiction Adaption (Initial Idea 3)

I have been looking into the poem more, mainly at cenotaphs. Initially I did not know what a cenotaph was when reading the poem, but after researching I found out that it is a monument created for the purpose of memorial of a mass death. These could be built for non war tragedies such as the terrorist 7/7 attacks in London or soldiers lost in war such as the war memorials you see poppy wraiths on. The poem initial meaning to the building of cenotaphs is for the memorial of those lost in World War 1, but the meaning can be changed for the purpose of my film adaption. Referring back to my innocence lost idea I have spoken about previously, the cenotaph could be a visual metaphor to that idea, or if I decide to look further into the sexual connotations I could use the cenotaph as a more darker themed meaning. But overall a cenotaphs purpose is remembrance, remembrance for loss. I am going to look more into the idea of loss as it seems like an idea with broader possibilities to what the meaning could be. I am also going to look into the idea of anger as loss and anger are highly linked feelings, anger for the reason of loss or the anger some might feel while fighting in wars or fighting in general.

Digital News Production (Planning 3)

We have found a news story we are interested in doing a story on. We looked at the Kent Wildlife Trust website and found a story on a company planning to build houses in Medway in an area that is a designated to Nightingale birds, the only one of its kind in the United Kingdom. This is a perfect story as it is hard news that will be fitting for our news production. This story has two sides to the story those of the people protesting against the buildings being built and the company planning to build in the area. This is a very likely choice of story to choose but we will keep our options open until we have covered all aspects such as the likely hood of us getting interviews and footage or that if we can find other stores that would be either higher in importance or easier to get coverage. I am not planning to take the easiest option but I am looking for the story we can get more information about or can produce a better piece on.

Digital News Production (Planning 2)

My group had our first discussion yesterday on generally what we should produce for this unit. We had a handful of ideas such as using local events or events happening within UCA, but we have decided that our stories should be about local news within Kent about nature and wildlife. We made this decision because Kent is well known for its countrysides, farm produce and wildlife. We felt that this would be fitting as the idea does seem like a news production that would be needed or wanted by members of the general public, obviously generally aimed towards people in Kent. This type of news could be aimed at anyone that has an interest in these things in Kent, but we will have to discuss what age group would most likely be interested in the news we produce.

Digital News Production (Planning 1)

For the 'Digital News Production' unit, I am working with Vic and Ruby. I believe that this will be good as we all get on with each other well and I know that they are hard working. I have worked with Vic before in a previous unit, I helped him with his Directions unit last year. He had good control of what we were going to film and planned his filming well. I am looking forward to working with them but there could be some downsides. Mainly that because we get on so well we might get distracted and not perform as well as we can do, but I feel that we will treat this unit with the upmost professionalism and be mature about the work we do. I feel that this is as well a personal problem for me to overcome as well as I can easily get sidetracked and off subject, it is something I aim to improve this year as it did affect some of my work last year and I did not do as well as I could have done.
