Digital News Production (Planning 17)
Even though we have had a response from the Edenbridge Bonfire Society allowing us to film at the event, as well as it being a great story to cover, our news production will not be covering this story. We have made this decision after realising the story has nothing to do with nature, which is what our news production is based upon. This would have been a great story to cover due to the amount of things happening on the day, we would have got great coverage from it, and also because of the large amount of people attending the event we would have been able to get some good vox pops. But the fact still remains that the story would not be suitable news for our production. We could change our news production to report on general news stories instead of ones relating to Nature in Kent, but it would be very unprofessional to change our news production because of a story. Sky Sports News would not change their type of stories to report on just for one story. We will look into other news stories instead immediately ensuring this time that it will fit in to our news productions criteria.
Digital News Production (Planning 16)
We have received a response from the Edenbridge Bonfire Society allowing us to film at there event. This is what the email said.
Charlie,
Charlie,
In principle fine, in fact the idea is potentially very interesting. Well done for being nice about the Society, too!
Can we have some more info, please?
Is this an official UCA activity / coursework - or are you and your friends simply doing what you like doing?
If it is an official UCA activity, are you covered by UCA Third Party Liability insurance?
If it is an official UCA activity, can you get a letter of introduction and confirmation of insurance cover?
How many would be in the group?
If you do visit, what do you think the timings would be? (See below)
If it all works well, would you be prepared to let us put the video (or rather a clip of it) on our website
For info:
- work on the guys has already started at weekends
- we do have a Press Call on 5th Nov at which the identity of the Celeb Guy is revealed to the media
- setting up starts at around 8.00 am on the day of the event (8th November)
- the guys will go up at around lunchtime - buty it is a slow process
- sunset is at 16.20 or so, so light fails
- all roads into Edenbridge close between 18.00 and 22.00 - you must be in here beforehand and can't leave until late
- the procession kicks off at 18.30
- fireworks start around 20.30
- guys are burnt during the display but no exact timing is possible
Thought you might like these
Look forward to hearing from you
