Major Project Unit - Organising The Footage

One of my personal weaknesses is organisation, so before I started editing 'Roadman' I decided to come up with a simple way for me to organise the clips when I get them. It is important for me to keep the footage organised as it will help me when it comes to editing when looking for clips to use, and also helps prevent footage being lost.

The way I have decided to do this is with a code for me to use to locate footage while I am editing. The code includes what scene it is and what take it is, and if it is something important, have a brief description of what the clip is. For example, scene 1 take 1 is saved as 'SC1T1'. I can type this in to the search bar in the editing software for me to locate this specific clip. I also have put the clips and audio from each scene into its own individual folder, this is also to help keep it all tidy and organised; below is a screenshot of how I have organised the footage.

Major Project Unit - Lecture Theatre Shoot

The first scene we decided to shoot was Scene 4 where Billy and Jimmy are at a lecture. This was to go with what Tim the producer had planned but I personally believe this was a good decision. By putting us in filming one of the important scenes, in planning and production wise, I believed it built up a decent standard of work rate for us to do for other filming days.

During this shoot, I helped in the initial set up to help the production get off and running quick as possible, made sure the actors were okay while Andy and Tim went over what needed to be filmed and did some shots and filming for our behind the scenes.

Filming this scene went really well in my opinion and I have a wide variety of shots to use for this scene in editing, below is a rough cut of this scene.
