Digital News Production (Lodge Hill Re-recording)
Because of the interview with Rolf Williams did not going according to plan, we had to reshoot the interview. Sadly, Rolf was unavailable for it so we had to use what we had. But we were able to record my piece again and edit it to appear like I was there live interviewing Rolf. When we got to record my piece the clip mics did not work due to the wires being worn out and exposed. So instead I came up with the idea to use the rode mic we had available and hold it below me out of view from the camera. This was unideal for us as we wanted to use the clip mics but the audio worked just as good so we are able to use the footage, all we have to do is match the visuals up so it appears like the interview is taking place at the same time.
Digital News Production (Self Evaluation)
Throughout this project I feel I have done the most work I have done while being on this course. I feel that I have shown improvement in the amount of blog posts I have done as well as the effort of work I put into my work. I feel that my input into this piece of work has been vital to the outcome. I wrote the script for the live piece at Lodge Hill, recorded and helped creating the green screen as well as creating the general brand that is 'Kent Nature News'. I feel like I have done this by creating the logo, title sequence, website and the majority of social media sites.
I feel as a group, we performed very well also. We were in constant communication throughout with team meetings and discussing actions we could and should make. Even though we had a lot of problems along the way, such as difficulty getting interviews with people, people dropping out and not wanting to be involved with our news programme, I feel we have created the best piece of work we could have done under these circumstances.
I do feel like like my group and I could have done better though, but most of these are due to the problems we had trying to organise and get the coverage, interviews, access etc. We could have taken action sooner when people didn't come back to us instead of waiting around, we could have pushed ourselves more as well which would have given us more footage and time to edit. The decision to focus our news on nature in Kent could have been a problem also, as some of the stories we could have done were too far out for us to reach as none of us drive and also there were few stories we could have reported on that would fit into this type of programme. I do take responsibility for that as it was my initial idea to focus it on nature in Kent. I believed that it would be a simple yet interesting idea to base a news programme on, but it ultimately did not pay off as well as I thought it would be. Even with this in mind though I am still happy with what we have created and what I have personally achieved in this unit.

Digital News Production (Opening Sequence)
I have created the opening sequence for the news programme. After creating the logo I wanted to make something that represented the brand well as a whole which shows people what our news channel is about. I am not good with after effects so instead of creating something from scratch, I decided to find a template to work from. I found one which had leaves and butterflies in it zooming into a stock image logo which was perfect as it had elements of what I was looking for, as well as being simple. If the graphics were over the top it would not come across as professional and it wouldn't give off the feeling that it was a news programme. I took this template and put our logo into it as well as tweaking it a bit with colour and added flashes of light. It does not have any sound on it at the moment but I will post when the music has been chosen for the production.
