My goal for the protagonist of this story is for Holly to overcome her fear and social anxiety and leave her home. The problem she will face is going to be the imaginary friend/anxiety standing in the way of her being able to leave the house. The change at the end of the story is going to be the change in Holly and her outlook on the way she lives her life.
After speaking to people about my idea I have taken a few pointers down on how to develop my story and correct some problems. For example, I have to ensure that the imaginary friend doesn't come across as a comedic representation of fear. I have already countered this by showing Holly and her fear's relationship like an typical abusive one so it comes across to the audience more as a serious thriller than a comedic gimmick. Also, I have realised that Holly will have to leave the house to go to school/college, this is a contradiction to her having a social anxiety disorder. So I may change her to being either home schooled or an unemployed girl, or my other option could be altering her character so she will only leave the house when she has to and when it's on her terms. This could make the story and her character more plausible as she will feel more comfortable with only a few particular situations such as school/college. But I will develop and think more about these ideas in further depth.
