Major Pre-Production: Storyboarding the Film Research

I have researched how I can create a storyboard that is precise and effective in aiding me in the filming process of our film. The storyboard has to show what the shots are for each scene and how many are needed. The storyboard is basically a list of instructions that are needed for the filming process, it will keep shooting days organised and ensures that all shots will be done without any being forgotten. Forgetting shots will either affect the final product or will require a reshoot, which would cost us a lot of money to do.

I have purchased the book 'The Art of Movie Storyboards' by Fionnuala Halligan  to help me with how to set out and draw my storyboards. Even though my drawing abilities may be basic, this book has shown me important things to include in the storyboard that can aid me with visualising the story on paper. This book has examples of storyboards from films such as 'Amelie', 'Psyco' and 'Apocalypse Now'. Looking at how the professionals have created their storyboards will aid me in creating my own by taking noted on how they have shown each scene and how they have highlighted certain aspects of the shot also.
