After the sound design project, I appreciate
more to how the fact how music and sound can affect a scene and it’s importance
in filmmaking. With my film I will be using a pop song as well as using natural
sounds with no music in the background. I will be using these different sounds
to convey the different emotions shown in my film. I will be using a pop song for the first
half of the film where the main character gets the phone call about meeting up and
getting ready to go and meet them for getting the package. I am going to use
the song ‘Top of the World’ by Imagine Dragons for these scenes (Link found at bottom of page). I have decided
to use this song because it is an up beat cheerful song about love, which will
make the audience believe this is a film about love. But at the same time, the
lyrics could also be interpreted to be about someone obsessed with somebody
else, possibly in a creepy way.
The first three lines of the song are ‘If you love somebody, Better tell them while they’re here ’cause, They
just may run away from you’. These lyrics taken out of the song could be turned
into a negative form of love which is the type I am trying to show.
The
other sound I will be using will be recorded off camera (not recorded whilst
recording the visuals). These sounds will include footsteps, ambience sounds,
rainfall, ripping open paper etc. I want a clear crisper sound, as it is
effective in getting the audience into what they are seeing on screen.
